Units
We can arrange our ground floor Hostel rooms to provide 'units' (either for 9 guests or for 13 guests), complete with own separate entrance and access to kitchen & living area. You can combine three bedrooms for 9 guests (as detailed below) and share the 'common-room'/kitchen with guests in the other 2 bedrooms...or by booking all 5 bedrooms form one larger 'sole use unit' for up to 13 guests, without having to book the whole ground floor Hostel for 23 guests.
'Exclusive Sole Use' of the whole ground floor Hostel is of course also an option, whereby all 7 bedrooms are booked, accommodating up to 23 guests.
Both bedrooms in the 'Wee Snug' Hostel can be booked along with the whole ground floor Hostel, whereby accommodating up to 27 guests in total...or on it's own if only 4 guests.
As always, the longer you stay, the less you pay! But contact us for details/rates for reductions for 2+ nights.
Please note that 'Unit' and 'Exclusive Sole Use' options are not bookable online via our booking portal. Click the "Check Availability" button below where you will be redirected to email Pam with your booking enquiry.
Communal Areas
Common Room
We have an open-plan common room with a lounge and dining area for 24 guests. This has been returned to pre-Covid open-plan layout, but can also be screened off to form 2x separate ones each with it's own lounge/dining area (as shown). If you run out of conversation there’s a TV (free Sat channels), DVD player (or played through a PS2), electric keyboard, and 2x guitars. The lounge windows offer fabulous views of Loch Fyne, across to the Cowal peninsula and all the way south towards the isle of Arran. Patio doors from the lounge lead onto a wrap-around walkway with outdoor eating and seating area and also to the Firepit / BBQ area.
Guest Kitchen
This is accessed from the lounge and has 3 separate cooking areas, each complete with its own hob, kettle, toaster, sink and all of the usual crockery, pots & pans cutlery, and utensils. There’s a large fridge with each shelf labelled for use by guests in each of our rooms, plus a smaller separate 'Hostel's Basic Breakfast' fridge in the accessible area of the kitchen. Shelving units enable guests to store their own dried foodstuffs on labelled shelves, or in their room's lockable cupboard which also houses their crockery/cutlery, glasses and even a teatowel.
Please remember that hostels are 'shared' accommodation, not your own 'private' accommodation, so use of any hostel kitchen is only on the understanding that all guests follow the few 'simple rules' set out below:
* Being responsible for the contents of their room's cupboard (eg: correct number of items as on arrival), not removing any kitchen dishes/cutlery/glasses etc. from the Hostel or leaving them in your room.
* Tidying up after themselves, which includes anything used being properly cleaned, dried & put back into your cupboard/area where it came from & ensuring appliances used are cleaned/switched off as required.
* Please 'clean as you go', do not leave any dishes in the sinks or draining boards, as this is not fair to other guests who may be waiting to use them too...remember 'shared', not your own 'private' accommodation.
* Report any breakages to the Warden...accidents do happen, but items may require replacing in time for the next guest's arrival...so please let us know and don't hide it.
So, to put it simply, if you can't or don't clean it...you can't use it!!!
