Accommodation at the Hostel

Our hostel offers flexible accommodation options for all - whether you’re a solo traveller looking for a bunk for the night, a family in need of a self-catering base for your week’s holiday, a group of friends on a cycling tour, or a couple looking for a cosy getaway. Please remember, this is a Hostel not a hotel, therefore our bedrooms are just that...a bedroom, each one of which is described in full below. All other facilities like the 'Common-room' lounge/dining and kitchen areas are shared with other guests.

Each bedroom is named after a local Scottish island and, unlike a lot of bunkhouses and hostels, all of our bedrooms are ensuite. We even have 2 rooms with double beds (1 also has a single above), and all our bunk beds are (euro sized) custom-built for adults to ensure extra comfort along with added head height and, include USB charging points, reading lights, and a handy holder for your phone and/or reading glasses.

On the 1st floor we also have the 'Wee Snug' Hostel, with 2 bedrooms (1x double & 1x twin (2x single beds, not bunks)), which share the WC/shower-room, kitchen and lounge/diner.

Check out our different accommodation options and rates below...Hostels are the only accommodation that offer self-catering on a single night basis...and unlike hotels and B&B's, you have a more 'home from home' experience!!!!

By contacting Pam and booking direct, the longer you stay, the less you pay!

Please be mindful of any current Coronavirus restrictions (view our full Coronavirus guidance here to see what we’re doing differently at the moment).

Communal Areas

Common Room

We have an open-plan common room with a lounge and dining area for 24 guests. This has been returned to pre-Covid open-plan layout, but can also be screened off to form 2x separate ones each with it's own lounge/dining area (as shown). If you run out of conversation there’s a TV (free Sat channels), DVD player (or played through a PS2), electric keyboard, and 2x guitars.  The lounge windows offer fabulous views of Loch Fyne, across to the Cowal peninsula and all the way south towards the isle of Arran. Patio doors from the lounge lead onto a wrap-around walkway with outdoor eating and seating area and also to the Firepit / BBQ area.

Guest Kitchen

This is accessed from the lounge and has 3 separate cooking areas, each complete with its own hob, kettle, toaster, sink and all of the usual crockery, pots & pans cutlery, and utensils. There’s a large fridge with each shelf labelled for use by guests in each of our rooms, plus a smaller separate 'Hostel's Basic Breakfast' fridge in the accessible area of the kitchen.  Shelving units enable guests to store their own dried foodstuffs on labelled shelves, or in their room's lockable cupboard which also houses their crockery/cutlery, glasses and even a teatowel.

Please remember that hostels are 'shared' accommodation, not your own 'private' accommodation, so use of any hostel kitchen is only on the understanding that all guests follow the few 'simple rules' set out below:

* Being responsible for the contents of their room's cupboard (eg: correct number of items as on arrival), not removing any kitchen dishes/cutlery/glasses etc. from the Hostel or leaving them in your room.

* Tidying up after themselves, which includes anything used being properly cleaned, dried & put back into your cupboard/area where it came from & ensuring appliances used are cleaned/switched off as required.

* Please 'clean as you go', do not leave any dishes in the sinks or draining boards, as this is not fair to other guests who may be waiting to use them too...remember 'shared', not your own 'private' accommodation.

* Report any breakages to the Warden...accidents do happen, but items may require replacing in time for the next guest's arrival...so please let us know and don't hide it.

So, to put it simply, if you can't or don't clean it...you can't use it!!!
